The Old 97's
Blistered, blasted, and brilliant” – New Yorker

“Instant classic…. a killing machine from start to finish” – Salon
“Raucous set looking back on their 20-year run / 4 Stars” – Rolling Stone

Their new album Most Messed Up finds the Old 97′s at their raucous, boozy best, all swagger and heart. Titles like “Wasted,” “Intervention,” “Wheels Off,” “Let’s Get Drunk And Get It On,” and “Most Messed Up” hint at the kind of narrators Rhett Miller likes to inhabit, men who possess an appetite for indulgence and won’t let a few bad decisions get in the way of a good story. The band is joined by friend Tommy Stinson ( The Replacements, Guns ‘n’ Roses), who lays down electric guitar on a number of tracks, elevating the sense of reckless musical abandon to new heights and lending the album an air of the Rolling Stones’ double-guitar attack.

Named after Ha Ha Tonka State Park in their native Missouri, the group's relentless touring has seen them become one of the most buzzed about young bands in America, appearing at Lollapalooza, Sundance Film Fest, SXSW, CMJ while touring nationally as a headlining act, as well as supporting many great bands such as Old 97s, Murder By Death, Langhorne Slim, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin, Ludo, Meat Puppets and more. On March 28, 2011 Ha Ha Tonka was a guest on The Travel Channel's flagship show, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. It was one of the first times in the show's 5-year run that a band has been invited to perform. The band’s new record Death of a Decade debuted on Billboard Top 200 and was followed by a near sold out CD release tour in April/May 2011. The band completed a 50+ date fall headline tour which included a performance at Austin City Limits Festival as well as a multitude of radio shows. The band appeared at several festivals including Floydfest, Bristol Rhythm and Roots, Kentucky Derby Fest, Twangfest and more in 2012. Ha Ha Tonka just finished recording the follow-up to Death of a Decade and are currently on their 2nd European tour.
